I've often wondered what it would be like to see Japan in its earlier days as a nation. But thanks to various online resources, it's possible for us to see through someone's eyes. Someone who lived and died hundreds of years ago. A Youtube channel called Voices of the Past publishes videos where they read out sections of writings by people who lived in the ancient world. They read these out well, with sensitivity and sophistication. The images in the videos usually contain depictions of that period in time. Of particular interest to me and many other people were the videos they made relating to Japan. I will embed these in this post so you can watch them and maybe, in your mind's eye see a little window into the past.
I find these recordings are very soothing to listen to. They present a perspective on the past we don't often get to enjoy; as those who experienced it first hand. The people who lived in those times themselves seem to live on in the texts they wrote. And, perhaps without meaning to, they give us a delightful education into what they were like themselves.
If you would like to supplement your virtual experiences of Japan with real life, wearable objects, you could try perusing my online store. I try to keep my prices reasonable, and my products a blend of the fun and practical:

I'm currently saving up so I can repay my student debt as quickly as possible, and unfortunately the adds in this blog aren't paying off. Forming these blog posts takes time, and while I take great pleasure in it, I still find I need to make a living. So, anything you could give would mean a lot to me: paypal.me/pools/c/89Ab7XEzQ9
