There are many restaurants of many styles inside Universal Studios Japan. As I mention in another post, there is really no budget way to eat inside USJ, since they don't permit people to bring outside food or drinks.
Of those many restaurants, I was most excited to go and see The Dragon's Pearl. It boasts a distinctly San Francisco style of Chinese food, and so I was very curious. But it goes without saying that as with most things at USJ, it is also architecturally grandiose.

the interior of the restaurant was just as lavish as the outside, if not more remarkable. As with many of the things in USJ, they didn't cheap out on the details. As you can see, the restaurant was decorated with many small pieces of Chinese household items. It created a curious sense of homeliness and authenticity in amongt some details that were distinctly palatial.

Within the restaurant there are many different meal options. I decided to choose one that I felt was of good value and would give me a taste of things I hadn't had before. As I and the other patrons rounded the food preparation area, we could actually see inside, to what the staff were doing. I was amazed at how many there were and how quickly they moved.

(Taken by me, 2019.) If you look closely, you may be able to read what I paid on the receipt. For that amount, I got a big cup of peach tea soda, a small cup of hot and sour soup, a portion of mapo tofu, a couple of dumplings and a serving of fried noodles. I was astonished at how good the food was. I had been expecting it to be very oily and salty. Actually, it was full of a broad range of surprisingly sophisticated flavours.

I really enjoyed the whole experience of visiting this restaurant. I totally recommend it. Though I suggest you avoid visiting any of the USJ restaurants during lunch time itself. The lines can be very long in most of the eateries. Going off-peak can save you a lot of time. Tip: To save money on drinks, the best thing you can do to save money is to bring an empty drink bottle which you could refill at fountains and taps around the park.
