Spring time will soon return in Australia. So I wanted to reflect upon a suburban tour of sakura some friends and I did together last year.
We dressed up in kimono or kimono inspired outfits and we wandered around the local area together, taking photos will the beautiful cherry blossom trees we found along the way.
This year, with social distancing laws and restrictions still in place, such an activity might be harder to do. But with masks and enough distance, it may be possible once restrictions have been lifted.
Social distancing means that dressing someone in kimono might not currently be acceptable. But once covid-19 is gone, there are many places where one could be dressed in kimono or learn how to wear kimono. I've created a list in my business website showing locations around the world. Though there may be some that I've missed due to technological limitations.
Going for a walk to an unusual place with friends, or giving yourself or someone else a make-over can be a fun, affordable way to do a type of staycation.
Making it into a kind of photo-scavenge hunt can make the trip into a game. It adds a little fun and all you need is a working camera. You get to keep the photos and they can be nice to upload to social media.
With or without kimono, going for a walk and looking out for beautiful spring flowers can be very therapeutic. It can help you to slow down and remember that sometimes, the best things in life are free. You don't have to buy beautiful flowers to enjoy them.
