Ramen Musashi, Kaizuka-Shi: ラーメンむさし

Read Manga as you eat ramen, not far from Osaka airport!

I had spent the day wandering in the rain around Nishikinohama Beach with an old friend when I found that we were both hungry and wanting something nice and warm to eat. So, I decided I'd look up the closest ramen place and navigate us there using Google Maps. After a walk that felt like it took around 15 minutes, we came to the place. From the outside it looked somewhat small and generic. I am unable to read Japanese, so I didn't even know the name of the place. But when I entered I was delighted to see how neat it was, and to see that there was a massive manga collection lining the walls. Looking up the restaurant now, for some reason it only has three out of five stars. I can sort of understand why. The tables and menus all felt slightly sticky. But other than that, I couldn't fault it. The prices, to me, seemed reasonable. The quality of the food wasn't exceptionally good or bad. The staff weren't particularly nice or mean. But the massive statue of Astro Boy gives the place a very fun atmosphere, and a nice place to take photos by yourself or with a friend. There was also a rather sophisticated collection of earthenware against one wall.

Maybe this is why the restaurant gets three stars rather than two or four. It's such a standard, basic ramen place. And the special parts push it just over the line. On the day, I didn't think to photograph my food, so I don't remember exactly what I ate. If there is tonkotsu ramen on the menu, it's probably what I ate, since that is what I used to default to in ramen restaurants back when I was a meat-eater. You can see some images of the menu at this listing, though I recall there being many more options and pages. Perhaps the fact that I can't remember the food is a good sign. If it was exceptionally good or bad I'd remember it. I managed to find footage of a man eating at the restaurant on Youtube;
