A Virtual Gion Odori/Matsuri - DIY

Every year in early November, a wonderful festival called "Gion Odori" runs. However, it seems that for the first time in a very long time, it might not run. When I looked around online for information, I found no indication that it was running, and the relevant web source had been completely shut down! It turns out that Gion Matsuri has also been completely cancelled! (Please be aware these are two different festivals! I had to learn this as I was looking into them both!)

So, I thought, what can someone do if they would like to celebrate Gion Odori remotely and for free? Or how we can make up for the fact that there was no Gion matsuri at all? And with that, I searched for the best quality Youtube videos of Gion Odori and Gion Matsuri in previous years I could find. In some cases, the videos allow us a behind the scenes view on these events we normally wouldn't have.

If you would like to supplement your virtual experiences of Japan with real life, wearable objects, you could try perusing my online store. I try to keep my prices reasonable, and my products a blend of the fun and practical:

I'm currently saving up so I can repay my student debt as quickly as possible, and unfortunately the adds in this blog aren't paying off. Forming these blog posts takes time, and while I take great pleasure in it, I still find I need to make a living. So, anything you could give would mean a lot to me: paypal.me/pools/c/89Ab7XEzQ9
